Debbie is a silversmith based in Hertfordshire. She designs and makes jewellery inspired by nature, and the techniques, materials and styles gathered from her travels around the world. Each piece captures a story from a unique time and place.
With a 25 year career as a Graphic Designer in London, handcrafting jewellery has been a natural progression of her creative work. In 2013 she received commissions to make bespoke pieces to commemorate several people and events. This ignited her passion for silversmithing, specifically one-of-a-kind items that embody a personal story.
Honing her craft through self-study and formal training in silversmithing, wax carving and fold forming, Debbie loves to create simple, elegant jewellery that celebrates materials sourced from her travels. From Namibian gemstones, Tanzanian shells, Italian red coral and even Victorian sea glass from Durham. No two items are ever the same. She enjoys utilising traditional arts such as wax carving and casting, blending ancient techniques with modern design.
Debbie has been teaching silversmithing in London and Hertfordshire since 2018. She runs workshops on designing and making silver rings, bangles, earrings and pendants through a variety of techniques. She is also a member of the Wynd Gallery collective of artists in Letchworth Garden City. Her work is available to purchase online and via art fairs across London and Hertfordshire.
