POTTERYCRAFTS ARE COMING TO ARTSHED

From the 1st April you will be able to get all your ceramic, sculpture and pottery needs from Artshed. Pottercrafts are joining together with Artshed and bringing back the ability to buy all your pottery needs locally. Since the closing of their depot in Richmansworth it has meant paying for expensive delivery from Stoke, or travelling further distances. Initially we will be operating a fortnightly delivery service from Stoke, so customers of Potterycrafts and Artshed will be able to order and deliveries will be available to pick up here at Westmill Farm. Artshed are stocking a comprehensive selection of clays, powder and brush on glazes, tools and specialist equipment including kilns, wheels extruders. Demonstration models will be on display.

With effect from 1st April, Artshed will be stocking the ceramic tools, clays and glazes from Potterycrafts. The retail space within Art Centre is being enlarged and redesigned and designated to stock a comprehensive range of the products from within their range. We will also be running an order and regular delivery system for products not kept at Westmill Farm. AS Artshed have the perfect location for being able to park outside and pick up your choice of clays and glazes, it’s perfect for solution and saving on those expensive postage or travelling costs.

Potterycrafts are the leading manufacturer of kilns in the UK. They build a wide variety of kilns and offer spare parts, servicing, repair, technical advice and custom building.

MELLOW YELLOW PAINTING WORKSHOPS AT ARTSHED…..

MELLOW YELLOW

Time is marching on….. With this in mind, we are opening up our workshops for those who wish to have a go. Even if you have already bought the canvas but still haven’t had time to complete it, then this is a perfect opportunity to join on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between now and the 25 January. Starting this Thursday 6 January from 10.00am to 4.00pm join us and bring along your canvas or buy one when you get here. The day will be yours. At no extra charge, to use the workshop is free, materials are free of charge, or bring your own. If inspiration or instruction is what you need, there will be a tutor available to help and guide.

Don’t forget canvases are still available at Artshed Art Centre and the Isabel Hospice outlets in Bishops Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey. All the paintings must be created for the benefit of this event, must be original can be any style, any medium; but must have a hint of yellow.

MOSAIC MASTERS:
Those who have already committed to buy a segment of a master‘s work are also invited to join us on the Tuesday’s and Thursday’s painting days. We have a number of segments still to be completed, there will be no extra charge for the canvases, but we must get the whole of the two images completed.

If you wish to take part in the Mosaic Mastic event, please contact the gallery and make your choice of the segments available. All the pieces must be complete before the 3rd February. The final two completed master pieces are to be auctioned by Guy Schooling, Director Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers. The Private View is also being opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire.

PLEASE RSVP YOUR INVITATION IN TIME FOR 3 FEBRUARY PRIVATE VIEW

Lastly, we will be exhibiting the canvases as soon as they are delivered to Artshed. The gallery space within the workshop will be used to show the work as they arrive. This will be an ideal opportunity to view your favourite in time the Private View on 3rd February.

Artshed is closed due to inclement weather

Even though it looks lovely we are suffering from the weather. The snowy scenes at Westmill Farm are beautiful. Unfortunately, as we are closed today we shall not be able to see it. We are intending to open again as usual on Tuesday 21st December at 10.00. Mosaic Masters

Time is runnign out….. we only have 6 weeks before the Charity event at Westmill Mill Farm, which includes the Christmas Holiday. There are still a few mosaic squares still left to do. Isabel Hospice are auctioning the two final pieces for the benefit of the Charity on the evening of 3rd February. Be part of this fun event. Further information call 01920 466 446.

Christmas Jewellery & Gift Festival

Only a week to go before the festival……There will over 60 individual exhibitors exhibiting jewellery, ceramics, glass, cards, paintings and more gifts and surprises….

Opening on Saturday 27th November at 11 through to 5.00 and Sunday 11 – 4pm. Restaurant and Cafe facilities on site provided by The Three Lakes Restaurant. Full disabled access on site and free parking.

Mellow Yellow charity art exhibition “Mosaic Masters” is launched today. The two paintings chosen by Artshed and Isobal Hospice, Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh and The Goldfish by Matisse, are now illustrated on our Mosaic Masters event page.

Herts Open Studios 2010- Private View @ Courtyard Arts

Open Studios this September, looks to be one of the most exciting since Artshed has taken part. Some of the exhibitors across Hertfordshire are new working partnerships. From Art Symphony showing at the Old Town Hall Courtroom, Oaklands Staff and Students at the Oaklands College in St Albans to re:create in Berkhampsted to Hornbeams showing at the Mill Green Art Group along with a good number of new individual artists. Pick up a brochure at many of the county’s libraries and museums, as well as here at Artshed.

Support Hertfordshire’s artists and visit some over the Open Studios month.

Trash Factory at Artshed

Anne Tilby is running three Thursday sessions during the Summer break with her re-cycled materials.

The workshops are designed for children and adults to have fun using materials normally heading for the bin and landfil and turning them into puppets, masks, fun head gear. The workshops are designed to make you think further about what we chuck away, but also to encourage the children to use their imagination and have fun.
